India – I HATE YOU!! This is my feeling when exporting the LED product to India.Doing Business With India! It is tough tough thing, Incredible India! Here I want to share what I know about the India Market with the need. Hope it is helpful for you.
India’s Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) for Electronic Products.In 2012 Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) was introduced by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) along with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The scheme then covered 15 electronic and consumer products and added another 15 products in 2014.Under this scheme it is mandatory for manufacturers to get their products registered before launching them in market.The products are tested for safety as per the applicable IS standard.
Overseas Manufacturers are required to have a local representative in India who will represent the manufacturer locally and will be responsible for placing the product in the market.To make this program robust, Market Surveillance has been designed to ensure compliance. DeitY’s authorised representatives will pick the product from the market and send it to designated lab for testing and verification. CB scheme is not applicable for this program, all testing must be done by Indian in India. (God knows Modi’s Government, it makes not sense!!)
This program is for the manufacturer and unique registration is granted for each manufacturing location. Registration is granted based on the following criteria:

· Brand Name
· Product type

Phase 1 (Already in force):
(min. 32”), Electronic Games, Optical disk players, Wireless Keyboards, Telephone answering machine, Electronic musical system (min 200W), Mains
Powered electronic clocks, Amplifiers (min 2000W) and Automatic data processing machines.
Phase 2 – (Already in force):
Power adapter for IT, Power adapter for AV, Self-ballasted LED lamps(Sep 2015), LED Control gear(Dec 2015), Mobile Phones, POS, Cash register, Copying machine, Smart Card readers, Mail processing machines, Passport readers and Power banks.
Phase 3 – (Already in force): UPS/Inverter (max. 5kVA) and Fixed LED Luminaires (general purpose/Mar 2016).
Phase 4 – (Mandatory from 1st June 2016): Sealed secondary cell/batteries for portable devices.
Now it is known that which products are mandatory in the India Lighting Market. They are LED Bulb, LED Driver(including built-in and Independent), Fixed General LED Luminaires respectively.

Eveready Industries India Ltd is promoting its LED products on a larger scale. It believes that the Indian government?s LED lighting initiatives and decrease in LED lighting prices will lead to the growth of its share in the LED lighting market in India in the next three years. However, the company presently outsources the manufacturing of its LED lighting products. However, Eveready is betting big on its LED lighting business, which it hopes to account for about 30% of its turnover, or around Rs 7000 million, in the next three years.
I do not find any supplier for this Brand in the BIS website.
Havells India Ltd
Havells India Ltd had acquired the world-renowned lighting company Sylvania and registered itself amongst the top five lighting companies in the world. Havells entered LED business in 2010 and soon became a leading LED lighting manufacturer in India. Its LED lighting business accounts for nearly a third of its lighting business.
