20 Lighting Design Software List

Lighting Design Software is one of the important thing in Lighting Application. Indoor and outdoor applications and approaching to these applications differ from each other. There are 2 main difference of applications in lighting which are indoor and outdoor.

Outdoor spits in Road Lighting, Tunnel Lighting, Parks and Gardens Lighting, Sports and Arena Lighting, Facade Lighting, Monument Lighting and Architectural Lighting Design.

Indoor applications cover Industrial Lighting, Office Lighting, Retail and Hospitality Lighting, Museum Lighting and Residential Lighting. However, the lists of applications cover general parts of applications and seem to spited in many peaces, we can add more detail areas both of them.

This is a list of Lighting Design software for use in analyzing photometrics, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and 3D modeling. The software is typically used by importing the structural design via CAD files. Then lighting elements are inserted.

And finally, the lighting objects are associated with a photometry via IES files. The photometry of a light fixture describes the way it distributes its light into space. Once this process is completed, the illuminance and luminance produced by each fixture in the space can be calculated. The output is typically a diagram indicating these by means of colors or numbers.

This typically is the goal of technical photometry software.

  • Visual 3D
Description: The Visual Design Tools are a set of web based tools that allow users to analyze many common lighting scenarios and view photometric files. The Design Tools can be used to quickly calculate scenarios with simple geometries where interreflected light will not significantly effect the resulting illuminance. This is true for many outdoor lighting scenarios eg Parking Lots and Exterior Facade Floodlighting. Complex lighting designs and geometries should be studied in the PC based Visual software.
